THALEA

FontanaArte, 2023

Thalea is a contemporary family of suspension lamps that elegantly blends art, design, and technology. Created by  Francesco Librizzi and Paolo Rizzatto, the collection takes inspiration from the harmony and proportions of Italian Renaissance masterpieces, reinterpreted through the use of vibrant color and innovative materials.

At the heart of Thalea is a unique aluminum joint, which allows for the composition of multiple glass or metal lampshades in customizable configurations. The name Thalea, derived from the Italian word for “cutting” – a botanical technique where a plant fragment regenerates into a new organism – reflects the modular nature of the design. Each colored borosilicate glass diffuser acts like a petal or stem, combining to form a luminous and expressive object.

Available in four different glass shapes and one aluminum version in black, Thalea offers a wide range of color options, from warm to cool tones, allowing for harmonious or contrasting compositions to suit any interior.

The lamp features two integrated LED light sources:
– A linear, diffused light that gently glows through the colored glass, creating a warm ambient atmosphere.
– A direct spotlight, ideal for task or accent lighting.
Both sources are dimmable and the lamp is adjustable in height, making Thalea as functional as it is beautiful.

Whether installed individually or in a series, Thalea is a poetic statement piece that embodies FontanaArte’s legacy of innovation and elegance in lighting design.
