Photography that documents industry and work, the basis of each edition of Foto/Industria, this year explores the production of objects and devices that fall within a vast and solid sector that has been able to reinvent itself over time to meet changes in taste and habits, and is always extremely receptive to technological innovation.
Danielle Udogaranya, aka Ebonix, is a content creator, gaming expert, and 3D artist who focuses on giving a face to underrepresented groups. However, these are no longer photographic images, but rather digital avatars. And the context is no longer the real world, but an alternative space within the virtual realm. This simulated universe essentially reproduces the same stereotypes of gender, ethnicity, age, physical appearance, and religion as the real one, paradoxically distinguishing between what is considered the norm and what is seen as the exception. Ebonix breaks through this division, creating avatars for The Sims that allow people who belong to groups excluded or overlooked by developers to finally see themselves represented in the game. Activism and inclusivity from the tangible world also extend into the digital space — a space where the battles being fought are anything but trivial.
