SPAZIO DESIGN
Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile, Turin, 2025

The New Design Space at MAUTO is conceived as a place to narrate the evolution of the automobile through the lens of design, weaving together the languages, uses, and social customs that have accompanied more than a century of history. It functions as a tool for reading and interpretation, offering a fresh perspective on the relationship between the automobile and society.

The exhibition layout unfolds through a sequence of fan-shaped surfaces that articulate the visitor’s path and host a curated selection of objects, models, and documents. Each element becomes a chapter in a narrative that moves beyond the purely technical dimension of the automobile, engaging instead with design and industrial production, fashion, graphic design, and the visual culture of its time.

A dynamic backdrop of informational projections accompanies visitors along the route, while a transversal wall of posters—conceived as a flip-through “album”—is dedicated to the key figures who have shaped the history of automotive design. From this emerges a plurality of visions and languages that together have formed the collective imagination of the automobile.
