RITMO_01
ADI Design Museum, Milano, 2024
On the occasion of the exhibition: “The New Poetic
Activism. Italian design in search of inevitable objects”, 17 renowned Italian
designers were invited to take part in a new adventure, aiming to create a
fresh poetic discourse and reflection across different generations and design
approaches on the same theme.
“Ritmo_01” is a rhythmic composition of structural elements.
It’s a “tensegrity,” a system of compressed rods and tensioned cables in a
reciprocal relationship of distances, lengths, and repetitions. It represents
the tectonic soul of a space, in the unfolding and opposing of its components
to the force of gravity. It’s a scaled model of an archetypal architecture, an
allegory of the metrics and rhythm that generate a space from the dance of its
elements.
The composition on display is the first experiment
from a research series titled “Sistemi di Scrittura Ritmica” whose purpose is
to bring out the poetic vocation of language in the form of text, structure,
and music. Let’s try to imagine common assumptions in the use of a text to
formulate a narrative and an architectural project for the construction of a space.
